Dr. La Verne Ford Wimberly is a longtime educator and Tulsa’s first interim African American female superintendent. She is the embodiment of the power of education: the library at her alma mater, Booker T. Washington High School, carries her name, and murals of her are lovingly painted in schools throughout Tulsa.
